Springer’s Meats

Walter Mueller Sr. left his native Austria in the 1970s and settled in Hamilton, Ontario. There, he worked for local meat producers and learned the intricacies of the business. After spending almost a decade working at Springer’s Meats, he knew that with the right mix of dedication, drive and know-how, he could successfully build the company beyond its four walls and serve customers beyond Ontario’s borders. Walter purchased the deli and processed meats manufacturer in 1986 from the Springer family and increased the company to approximately 80 employees in the 75,000 square foot facility it is today. Counted among staff are Walter’s wife, son, daughter, and son-in-law, keeping the ‘family’ part of the business alive.

With hard work and dedication, Walter made this dream a reality with Springer’s Meats being approved to distribute their products across Canada, and most recently, the United States.

When it comes to business growth, Walter’s mantra is, “Run, never walk” and it shows. In order to keep up with the volume of new business, the facility quickly expanded. Today they produce between 25,000 and 35,000 pounds of product each and every day, including 5,000-6,000 pounds of pepperoni!

Known for their top quality products by both customers and local producers alike, Springer’s Meats produces more than 250 varieties of processed meats and has garnered countless awards. At the 2011 Ontario Finest Meat Competition, they received a Platinum award for their Smoked Whole Pork Leg Ham and a Silver award for their Pork and Beef Wieners. Most recently, their local newspaper has nominated Springer’s Meats for Best Deli and Best Meat Market in Hamilton.
